Day #73 We Have Lift Off!

I’ve been promising Boo for ages that we’d make a jet pack to go with the laser cuffs from Day #20 ‘Boo Lightyear’ To Starfleet Command!

Today is launch day…10….9….8….7…..6…..5…. 🙂

What You’ll Need

  • 2 x bottles – we used some empty bottles donated by Grams which used to have fizzy water in them
  • Piece of cardboard – to mount your rockets onto
  • Tin foil
  • Sellotape
  • Duct Tape – or similar strength tape – we went for a snazzy leopard print ‘Duck Tape’!
  • Crepe paper – for the flames
  • Scissors

We wrapped our bottles in tin foil and secured the ends with some sellotape.

If you had the time, you could paint the bottles silver and then hot glue them to the cardboard which would look pretty fancy.  With Boo so excited and bouncing around like Tigger after 3 espressos I think I did pretty well to get him to assist with the foil and sellotape before I rapidly duct taped the ‘rockets’ to the board!

Whilst I was attaching the rockets Boo began to choose his flames.  It was fab to see him calm down a little at this point.  He took his time choosing the colours he wanted and arranging them into two piles ready to be attached to the bottles – definitely seeing an improvement in his concentration levels.

We taped the flames to our rocket with sellotape and used folded lengths of duct tape to create our straps….

Fab – Boo was so proud of his “ROCKETS Mummy!! BANG!” – pretty good junk modelling for a pre-schooler eh? 🙂

Just a shame I couldn’t get Boo to stand still long enough for a photo!

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Activity Time: 15 minutes

Day #73 DONE! 27 to go!
