Day #51 The Great Penistone Bake Off

by Sara le Roux,  Owner and Inspirer at sara le rouxThe Creation Station Penistone and District

I was inspired by one of the mummies in my ‘Little Explorer’ classes last week.  Although they’ve been following our challenge posts, they have yet to attempt any of them.  Instead they have been getting creative through baking and making cakes.

I wish I had the patience to bake! I love the idea of creating something tasty and indulgent from the very beginning.  I can follow a recipe and bake (or cook!) most things – they just never taste as good to me as something that has been made by someone else – thank goodness I have a mum who loves to bake but never eats any of it!!!! YUM!!

So today, inspired by my ‘Little Explorer’ and her Mummy, I thought that Boo and I should have our first exploration into baking together.  To make it a little easier I took him to the supermarket and let him choose one of those boxed kits for making cupcakes – he chose a ‘muddy puddle’ Peppa Pig cupcake kit and got very excited that he was going to be able to use it for today’s ‘make’!

What You’ll Need

  • A boxed cupcake making kit – or the ingredients if you want to make it from scratch!

The kit made it really stress-free for us.  Boo stirred our mix – a little too vigorously sometimes – and then we poured our mix into the bun cases.

We popped the tray into the oven and set our timer!

Once they were done we popped them onto a rack to cool.

Try telling a three year old that they have to wait to eat cake! Arrrrggghhh!!!

When they were cool we got to decorating them – chocolate stars, hundreds and thousands and marshmallows! I think more ended up in Boo’s tummy than on the cupcakes!
