Does Creativity Helps Us Value Our World?

Seeing and hearing the feedback from the Paul Cummins ‘Tower of London Poppies’ really made me think about the power creativity has on all us of.

Creativity is often more than the sum of it’s parts. It often creates developments, emotions and outcomes that can truly make a difference.

Often it is not just the ‘creator’ that develops through the process but those who share the journey or who come into contact with the creations and outcomes.

This happens in early childhood when a child learns they can have a direct affect on their environment and literally make their own mark on their world and grow and develop. We can see the power of creativity effecting many us in the spectacular display of poignant red poppies around The Tower of London moat to commemorate the start of the First World War. The Installation started back in the summer and will consist of 888,246 ceramic poppies, one for each British or Colonial military fatality during the First World War. It helps us all to reflect and value what our ancestors did for us.

The story of how artist Paul Cummins created this is quite inspirational. If you haven’t seen this yet – it is well worth watching
